Small Virginia pine farm in Alvarado, south of Fort Worth, with cut-your-own trees and pre-cut Fraser firs. The field is small, so go the first weekend.
Sunset Hill is a small farm on County Road 206 in Alvarado, between Fort Worth and Cleburne. You can cut your own Virginia pine in the field, using the farm's saw or your own, or pick a pre-cut Fraser fir shipped in from a North Carolina grower. Trees run from about 5 to 9 feet.
The cut-your-own field is limited and the farm itself says its trees often sell out in the first weekend, so this is a farm to visit on opening weekend rather than mid-December. Sales are first come, first served, and you don't have to buy a tree to visit.
The farm opens for 2026 on Friday, November 27, and is open on weekends after that until the trees are gone. Prices were not posted online when we checked; the farm's number is 817-944-3177.
