Privacy Policy

Last updated November 6, 2026

This policy explains what information Farms & Fairs collects when you use this website, why, who we share it with and the choices you have. We collect as little as we can: you can browse every page without creating an account or telling us who you are.

Who we are

Farms & Fairs (farmsandfairs.com) is an independent website. You can reach us at hello@farmsandfairs.com.

We are the "controller" of the personal information described here.

What we collect

When you browse

  • Technical data. Like every website, our server receives your IP address, browser type, the page you asked for and the time. We use it to deliver pages, keep the site secure and fix errors.
  • Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are useful, for example how many people read a guide or use the map. It sets cookies and collects data such as pages viewed, approximate location (city level), device and how you reached us. Google Analytics does not log or store full IP addresses. We do not use it to identify you.
  • Saved plans. When you tap "Save" on a listing, the list is stored only in your own browser (local storage). It never reaches our server, and you can clear it at any time.

When you contact us or send a listing

If you use our submission form (to add a listing, report a change or claim a listing), we collect what you enter: your name, email, business name, the details of the place or event and your message, plus the IP address the form was sent from (to prevent spam). We use this only to review and answer your request and to keep the listing accurate.

Why we use it (legal bases)

  • To run and secure the site: our legitimate interest in providing a working, safe website.
  • Analytics cookies: your consent where the law requires it, and otherwise our legitimate interest in improving the site.
  • Answering submissions and messages: to take the steps you asked for, and our legitimate interest in keeping listings accurate.

Visitors in Europe see a cookie notice first: analytics cookies are only set if you accept, and you can change your mind with the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on. The site works without analytics cookies.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We use a small number of service providers that process data on our behalf:

  • Hostinger, which hosts the website and its database.
  • Google, for Google Analytics.
  • Unsplash and OpenStreetMap, which serve some photos and map tiles directly to your browser. They receive your IP address to deliver those images.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our visitors or the site.

Advertising. We plan to show ads to keep the site free. Before we do, we will update this policy with the ad partners we use, the cookies they set and how to opt out, and, where required, we will ask for your consent first.

How long we keep it

  • Server and error logs: only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting, normally a few weeks.
  • Submissions and messages: up to 24 months after we have dealt with them, so we can check the history of a listing. You can ask us to delete them sooner.
  • Backups: up to 14 days.
  • Google Analytics data: up to 14 months.

International transfers

Our providers may process data in the United States, the European Union and other countries. Where data leaves the European Economic Area, they rely on safeguards recognized by EU law, such as the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, object to or limit how we use it, receive a copy of it, and withdraw consent at any time.

  • Visitors in the EU, EEA and UK can exercise these rights under the GDPR and may also complain to a data protection authority. In Spain that is the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (aepd.es).
  • California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA to know, delete and correct personal information, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information as those laws define it. We will not treat you differently for using your rights.
  • Residents of other U.S. states with privacy laws (such as Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas and others) have similar rights.

To make a request, email hello@farmsandfairs.com. We will answer within the time the law requires, usually within 30 days, and may need to confirm your identity first.

Children

Farms & Fairs is a planning guide for families, written for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices change, for example when we add advertising, and change the date at the top. Significant changes will be highlighted on the site.
